The death of her mother when Janet was sixteen, led her to
explore how the relationship with her parents and other life
experiences shaped her struggles with food, chronic illness and
finding balance in adulthood.

Through her poems Janet discovered the many connections that
kept her safe and fueled an inner strength to move through
adversity. Bittersweet chronicles her journey to recover and
thrive in a world where love and loss, grief and joy, hate and
